USF Earns Arbor Day Foundation Distinction
Jan 20, 2012
The Arbor Day Foundation honored USF for its commitment to “plant, nurture, and celebrate trees,” in a commemorative ceremony on Friday, January 20. The Arbor Day Foundation designated USF a Tree Campus USA school for its Campus Tree Care Plan, managed by the Office of Sustainability. The plan outlines University protocol for campus tree management that ensures a healthy and diverse treescape across the Tampa campus.
The ceremony was held outside of the Administrative Building where Ms. Carrie Kotal from the Florida Division of Forestry presented the ‘Tree Campus USA’ award to Provost Wilcox, and Vice President for Administrative Services Sandy Lovins. Also on hand for the celebration was Lisa Montelione from Tampa City Council.
Dr. Christian Wells, Director of the Office of Sustainability, led the ceremony.
