STEM Science Fair Finds Judges in PSGS Staff

Patel School director, Dr. Kala Vairavamoorthy and academic advisor, Randall Pape were judges at the 32nd Annual Hillsborough Regional Science, Technology,Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Fair on February 7, 2012.
The Hillsborough STEM Fair is a large academic competition where students representing grade levels K-12 share their research from a variety of fields with their peers and professionals.
The competition was divided into 13 categories: Astronomy, Behavioral & Social Sciences, Biochemistry, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Science, Earth & Planetary Science, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Medicine & Health, Microbiology, Physics & Engineering and Zoology.
Organizers expected 1,500 students to compete and over $10,000 to be awarded in cash and prizes.
The STEM fair is affiliated with the Florida State Sciene & Engineering Fair and the International Science & Engineering Fair.

The top 26 middle and senior projects will go on to compete at the State Science and Engineering Fair in Lakeland in April. In addition, two senior division students will compete at the International Science and Engineering Fair in Pittsburgh in May to compete against 1,500 students representing all 50 states and over 50 countries from around the world.
